I, (Sharon Welch, enter these comments on January 6, 2017:
My family lived down the street from the Casto family (Evalyn, Charles and children: Phillip, Kathryn, Janet, and Melvin.) As it turned out, the four kids in my family (Norman sr. and Ruth Olive Sayers Welch, children: Maureen Kay Welch (McCathrin), Sharon Lee Welch (was Wyner when married), Norman C Welch jr., Maurice John Welch matched up fairly well, in that the children were about the same age of each of us. Long story short, my sister Maureen, had a lifetime crush on Phillip, I became best Lifetime Friends with Kathryn, Janet was in Norman’s Classes, and Melvin was friends with Maurice. My mother considered Evalyn her best friend her whole life. Through the years, the Casto’s became a single parent family (Evalyn’s choice), and they moved several times around Briggsdale and Columbus. Although finally, before Kathy and I entered our Junior year at Franklin Heights High School, Evalyn married Rev. James Lyons, and they all moved near Cinncinnati and Hamilton, OHIO. Kathy and I visited as often as possible, and stayed best friends for my Lifetime. We were Maid of Honor in each others’ weddings, and both became teachers. I considered Evalyn a second mother. I love them all still, and miss them very much.

many things are under construction and not functional yet. We're thinking most things will be working within 4-6 weeks.

Seems the Pirate Story is one that most people with the last name Casto have in common. Even when there is no clear connection in the family tree. Many people make an assumption that Casto is Hispanic in origin. Though there appear to be variations of the name from all the major European countries many of the Casto clan in America claim to come from William Casto around the 1600's, an Englishman. I've seen the origin listed as being Scottish, Welsh, English, French, German, and yes even Spanish. Based on what can be proven and what is rumored one thing seems to be true, the Casto family is 100% American. A true melting-pot made up of a multitude of nationalities.
